The Marmion

Traveling from Ireland to the USA in 1850

The Marmion docked in New York port on 20th March 1850 and among its passenger was a 19-year-old labourer named Falmouth Carney (Kearney).

Two years later Falmouth Kearney married Charlotte Holloway, and it is shown in the U.S. Census records from 1860 that Falmouth, a farmhand, his wife Charlotte and several children were living in Deerfield, Ohio, with the 1870 Census records showing Falmouth Kearney as a farmer in Tipton County, Indiana.

On the death of Falmouth Kearney in 1878, he was survived by five daughters and at least three sons. Falmouth Kearney's youngest daughter, Mary Ann, is the great great grandmother of Barack Obama.
